Marty and I have been married for 44 years. We moved to Big Rock in 1991 and have made our home in Kane County ever since. We attend Christ Community Church at the Aurora campus.
Our daughter Sarah is married to Sean Herron. They have blessed us with two wonderful grandchildren. Declan is now in first grade and Kyla is in pre-school.
I earned my BS in Business Administration from the University of Evansville, majoring in accounting and minoring in finance. I worked for three years in public accounting, before moving into the private sector as Controller for an industrial sand mining company with operations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. The company was acquired by a UK based parent, and I was promoted to Chief Financial Officer.
My family has deep roots in the community. We owned and operated Cottonwood Farm for over twenty five years, providing full time employment to our staff and summer employment to local students. We have sponsored and organized local sports camps. I have coached numerous youth baseball, basketball, and softball teams and for five years I was a girls’ basketball coach at Hinckley-Big Rock High School.
Before I was first elected Kane County Auditor in 2012, I served as a Trustee on the Big Rock Village Board. I have been an elected precinct committeeman since 2008, and currently serve as the Chairman of the Western Kane County Republican Organization (Western Townships) and the Treasurer of the Kane County Republican Central Committee.
I also serve as the Treasurer of the Illinois Association of County Auditors and the Treasurer for the Northeast Multi-Regional Training organization for law enforcement agencies in this section of Illinois.
Marty serves as a volunteer at the Between Friends Food Pantry in Sugar Grove and bakes for the Sugar Grove Senior Citizens monthly luncheon.
Beside being a wonderful mother to two great kids, Sarah is an Occupational Therapist at MarianJoy Rehabilitation Hospital. She also coaches soccer and t-ball, and in her “spare time” volunteers as a certified therapeutic riding instructor at Equine Dreams.
Sean served for ten years in the US Army, with multiple overseas deployments. He is now an elementary teacher in the Kaneland school system, and serves as a Trustee on the Sugar Grove Village Board.
My mother also lives in Big Rock and remains an active volunteer at the Hinckley United Methodist Church.
My sister Debbie and her husband Mike Constant live in nearby Hinckley, where Mike serves as a Trustee on the Hinckley Village Board.
Serving as your Kane County Auditor is just another way that my family and I do our part to be good neighbors and ensure that our community is a great place for your family.
